“Oh Ally! You look perfect! Just enough sex appeal, but definitely not overdone.”
Ally barely heard her friend Macy’s comment as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. It had been two years to the day since she had met the one man who had walked in and out of her life, changing it forever. Halloween was supposed to be a fun and crazy holiday for college students like her, but yet, it took on instead a somber pose. As she continued to frown deeper at herself in the mirror, Macy cheered her up even more.
“Girl, you have to cheer up! You are the happiest person I know but look at you now! I know it’s been a year since Max left but cheer up and let’s have a good time. It’s our senior year!
“Oh, I know! I’m so sorry. I’m done moping, promise! Now, let’s have a drink and make a toast,” Ally said with a grin. Tonight would be a good night; she had terrific friends who would make sure of it.
Both Ally and Macy joined the rest of their friends waiting in the living room.
“A toast! To our senior year of college and the greatest Halloween yet!” Exclaimed the group as they brought their drinks in for a clink.
“Ahhh! I love you girls’ costumes! The Fanta girls? So clever,” Ally said.
“Are you kidding me? We look like a bunch of neon idiots! You, on the other hand, look smashing, Ally! Bet you will be attracting some lookers in that pirate wench costume of yours,” Jett exclaimed with a sassy look.
Ally laughed and dismissed Jett’s comment almost immediately. “Come on, let’s hit up that house party. Then downtown bars here we come!”
Ally knew here was no way she was getting involved with anyone tonight, or anytime soon. It wouldn’t be fair to them and would be selfish of her. It was time to enjoy her last year of college and forget all about the guy who stole her heart. If she only knew what was in store for her that night.
