A Halloween Romance-Part 4

Max's piercing eyes held her gaze. "Can we talk?"

"Sure, here I am, right in front of you."

"We are practically screaming above this music, can we please take it somewhere quieter?" Max was solemn and intent on getting what he wanted. It wouldn't be easy for him.

Ally studied him for a second, still somewhat shocked about the whole situation and even then, anger slowly took hold of her senses. "We have nothing to really say to each other. It's been a year since you've talked to me last, Max. That in itself alone, has said so much." Saying that, Ally started to turn to walk away but Max caught hold of one of her arms, pulling her to him, the crowd crushing them suddenly even closer together. A heat wave entranced their bodies from the shrill ecstasy of their touch. Every nerve suddenly became too aware, too sensitive, of the others touch.

"Max, please. I...I...just can't do this." With that, Ally turned and walked away but not before Max could see the tears in her eyes. He knew he had been selfish this past year and it was clearly evident how much it had hurt Ally. It was killing Max actually seeing the affect of his actions in person. But he had to let her go, at least for now.

Back upstairs, Ally found only one of her friends she had arrived with, Jett.

"Yooo Ally! Most of the girls have already headed out Johnny's Pub. Where have you been?!"

"Oh, you don't even want to know."

"Al, I heard Max is here." Jett suddenly became very serious, a trait that she rarely possessed.

"I don't want to talk about it, I just need to get out of here." Ally was growing impatient by the minute. The house was becoming so suffocating.

"Did he try to talk to you?"

"Yes! Of course! But I have no desire to even give him the time of day."

"I think you should," Jett said sternly.

"Jett, I don't have time for this, I'm leaving, with or without you." With that Ally turned and left the house. She was bound and determined to leave, even if she had to walk to the bar by herself.

The misty air surrounded Ally and leaves danced behind her as she walked into the night. A couple blocks from the bar, the hair on the back of her neck began to rise as an eerie feeling fell across her. Someone was following her. Turning the corner, Ally came face to face with the last thing she needed.

"Well, hello there gorgeous." The blatantly drunk man stumbled out in front of her.

"Excuse me," Ally said trying to walk around him but he would not let her.

"Now, now, where do you think you are going? I've been looking for me a pirate wench like you." The man grabbed Ally's wrists and his hot wreaking breath hit her nose and she turned her head away in disgust.

"Let go of me!" Ally yelled, wrestling away from his ever tightening grip. He didn't budge. Even in his drunk state, her strength was no match for his.

A struggle ensued, and the man shoved her into the edge of the dark, shadowy alley. The worst case scenario flashed through Ally's mind. She kicked, hit, and screamed. The man ripped open her shirt, but suddenly as that happened, her attacker was grabbed from behind and shoved up against the wall beside her, a fist meeting his face.

A fight ensued between her attacker and rescuer. Finally, the drunk man fell to the ground putting his hands up, guarding his face, whimpering like a child. Her rescuers punches ceased and he glanced up, looking right at Ally. Even in the dark shadows she knew it was Max. He ran toward her and gathered her in his arms.

"God Ally, I'm so sorry, for everything. I should not have ..." Ally silenced him as she slowly raised a hand to his lips.

"Just kiss me, Max."

"With pleasure." Max grinned and dipped his head in for the kiss.

In the darkness their lips met, discovering a hurried passion and fierceness like never before.
