A Royal Affair

Chapter 3

Evelyn listened intently to the man chatting her up at the bar. She had arrived at Raffles with Rose but could see from where she was sitting, that Rose had found Harry, her obvious hook up for the night. As much as she loved Rose, she was leading the poor Brit on. She had seen it way too many times.
Evelyn grinned, turning her attention back towards the gentleman talking her ear off. “I’m sorry, what were you saying?”
“Would you like to dan-…” The man stopped mid sentenced and his attention was drawn to something or someone behind her. Evelyn was baffled by his odd behavior and turned to her left on the bar stool to see what had stolen his attention. Standing there, hovering beside her was the darkest, sexiest man she had ever laid eyes on. It was evident by his devilish grin that he was full aware of his good looks.
“You are the most beautiful woman here.” His grin changed to a smile, revealing a perfect set of white teeth.
“And you, sir, are making me swoon.” Evelyn knew his type and she was sure as hell going to have some fun with him.
“Ah, a feisty American are we…let me buy you a drink. Bartender!” The man called after the bartender only momentarily diverting his attention.
“Ha! Only if you are the King of England himself.” Evelyn began to rise from her seat at the bar but the man would not budge.
“Well, no. I’m merely a prince. Thank God for that. My brother gets to deal with all that business someday.”
“Excuse me?”
“Keaton Rothesay, Prince of Carrick, at your service, ma’am.” He said with a seemingly mocking bow.
Wow, this guy really was full of himself, Evelyn thought.
“Well sir, your royal company has been a pleasure.” With that, Evelyn gave a curtsy and walked away from him. What nerve and how arrogant he was! She soon found Rose who immediately grabbed her arm and dragged her into a corner.
“Do you have any idea who was just hitting on you?” Rose was dead serious and Evelyn was completely confused by her reaction.
“Oh Rose, it was just some smart aleck Brit trying to get in my pants.”
“That was the Prince of Carrick, Keaton Rothesay! He must be in town for his brother’s wedding.”
“Well, he wasn’t anything special.” Evelyn couldn’t help but think of the man. He was a looker for sure but he was too confident and it was obvious he used his status as a royal to his advantage.
“Well, well, trying to bag the last single Prince in England are we?” Harry blurted out, joining the conversation.
“No thank you.” Evelyn took another drink trying her best to ignore Harry. She had just met him a few hours earlier and still could not decide if she liked the man or not. It was obvious though, that Rose enjoyed his company, maybe even more than she let on.
Harry’s comment though, brought her out of her thoughts. “Well you better tell him that because he is headed straight toward you.” With that, Rose and Harry left her alone suddenly and before she knew it, there he was, every 6ft of his raw sex appeal making the club feel so much smaller, so much hotter.
“I believe this is yours ms…?” Keaton held a drink within her reach. It was exactly what she had been drinking all night.
“Evelyn…” She really had no idea what to say. Suddenly she was tongue-tied. The man was like a drug on her senses. She knew she had to snap out of it and the sooner the better. No wonder her first gut reaction had been to get away from him.
“Let’s dance.” Before she knew what had hit her they were on the dance flood together, their bodies melded close. Looking up, they locked eye contact, and he pulled her even closer than she thought possible. The music, his body, the alcohol…everything melded together for a sinful concoction. Evelyn let go of herself and they danced the night away without saying a word to each other.
Evelyn soon found her senses and pulled away from him. “I have to go.”
The crowded dance floor made it impossible for Keaton to keep his hold on her and she disappeared. He went after her fast, catching up to her right before she left the club. Pulling her to him, he captured her mouth in a searing kiss.
Evelyn was completely caught off guard by Keaton and his kiss. As much as she wanted to push away, she couldn’t. In a secluded corner, they were completely alone, away from prying eyes. His tongue entered her mouth in a rythyme that made her insides melt. His hands framed her body, making their way down her hips pulling her closer.
Evelyn pulled away. “You must enjoy doing this to women. How easy it is for you to make women fall for you.”
“I find the women that fall at my feet absolutely boring and gold diggers. That is why I stay out of the spotlight. I detest media attention.” Keaton was slightly baffled by the way she was acting but he enjoyed her feisty-ness. She was a beautiful, breath of fresh air. Women usually did anything to be with him and he hated it. This one had mocked him and had tried to escape him twice in one night, he was more than intrigued.
“Well, your royal highness, I must bid you goodnight.”
Keaton was not going to let her get away just yet. He grabbed her hand as she turned and pulled her to him again but this time, the kiss was soft and lingering.
“Goodnight, Evelyn.”
